This "business" is another interest that I share with our daughter Glenna. When she and her brother were younger we spent many a weekend traveling the neighboring states showing rabbits . Our rabbitry originally started with a trio of Jersey Wooly, but then I found a trio of French Angora at a show and was hooked for life! Not only did the wonderful breeder sell me the rabbits, she spent all day teaching me how to spin with a drop spindle! Needless to say, she is a friend for life; the rabbits became a permanent fixture at our farm; and I developed an avid interest in a whole new hobby!

Since that day, we've bred to improve our rabbits. Successful in developing quality bodies and quality wool, we also work on developing docile dispositions. I want to always have rabbits that children and adults can handle safely.
Although Glenna and Dwain no longer actively show due to a change in interests--college and sports are their interest now--I do forsee myself returning to the show circuit on the "open" table at a competitive level in the not too distant future. The years we've spent breeding selectively will hopefully be rewarded with continued success. However, until that day arrives, I'll continue enjoying the benefits of the rabbits' wonderful wool! The angora they produce; when blended with sheep wool and other exotic fiber yields some of the most luscious roving available. It always seems like I can barely wait until the new litters in the nest boxes grow big enough to contribute to the wool bag!
